How does an Exhaust Tube Air Conditioning Unit work?

The majority of the air that is passed through the Exhaust Tube Air Conditioning Unit is directed over the evaporator and is returned back into the room as cold air. A small amount of air is passed across the condenser which cools the refrigerant gas. This air is then expelled from the room as it becomes hot via the exhaust tube. The exhaust tube is usually positioned to expell this air through a window.

Split Air Conditioning Units

Split Air Conditioning units are supplied in two parts - a unit that is situated within the room to be cooled and a heat exchanger which is situated outside the room.

How does a Split Air Conditioning Unit work?

The condenser (inside the room) is cooled by water that is circulated through the heat exchanger (outside the room). The system is completely sealed and will require no additional water once the system is installed. An advantage of this system is that the pipes connecting the two units can be extended up to 30 metres in length - allowing the heat exchanger to be positioned well away from the room being cooled.

Split Air Conditioning units are designed to cool by water being passed through a heat exchanger situated outside the room to be cooled.
